Short overview of work:

Fourth Year violinist at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London.

Impact and outcomes from the ArtLinks Bursary on practice:

Winning the ArtLinks Bursary made it possible for Alison to study the violin at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. “Without that amazing opportunity I know that I would not have achieved half the things that I have today. I have been lucky enough to play with the Guildhall Symphony Orchestra in the Barbican Hall and with the Cassian Quartet in Wigmore Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall. I have also been accepted into the Royal College of Music to pursue a Masters in Violin Performance starting September 2012.

None of this would have been possible without the ArtLinks Bursary that I was awarded. They made my dreams of studying the violin at the highest level financially possible and for this I will be forever grateful. In these hard times it's amazing to see that ArtLinks are still supporting local artists and really making a difference to people’s lives and to the community”.

Plans for the Future:

Alison’s long term goal is to set up a string quartet and to be able to play and teach in Kilkenny. “It would be an amazing opportunity to set up a yearly concert series that would bring serious classical works to the public. I would also like to work closely with local Irish composers and incorporate their music in concerts”.
