/// Biography

I was born and raised in Toronto, Canada -- the eighth child of a large Irish immigrant family. I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) degree in 1986 from York University, Toronto and shortly thereafter moved to Ireland, where part of my family had already returned.

Since 1989 I have exhibited throughout Ireland in both group and solo exhibitions and taken part in a number of residencies and symposia. My work is represented in both public and private collections in Ireland, England, Canada, USA, Belgium, and Australia, most notably the Office of Public Works, Health Service Executive, and Microsoft Ireland.

Artist Practising from : since before 1970
In the past few years, I have become increasingly aware that my work is inspired by changes in my environment and circumstance, and I am happiest with my work when it is challenged by such changes. The study of dreams has also played a large part in my work, and many works develop from the initial use of dream imagery.

In addition to my studio work which focuses on painting, I have also worked on projects in response to a specific brief, site, concept, or combination of these; I am interested in and enjoy the creation of both temporary and permanent work.

/// News

Placement© is an ongoing temporary project, begun in May 2009, in which I print out images of artwork from my 20+ years oeuvre onto standard mailing labels and then put them in various locations over the course of at least two years.

I am also continuing work on a body of work which I have entitled "Homebody Child".

Through the use of both traditional and personal symbols, I am exploring what it means to be alive in the 21st century: as an artist, wife, mother, sister, daughter.

The work in Homebody Child is a distillation of the emotions associated with middle age: looking back on youth, looking forward to old age, appreciating the moment of now.
