Waterford ArtLinks member Jane Jermyn from Lismore received an ArtLinks bursary in 2016 enabling her to attend the International Academy of Ceramics Congress and General Assembly in Barcelona. Jane found it a stimulating and exciting experience. Earlier this year Jane applied to become a member and is delighted to learn that she has been elected as a member of this prestigious organisation.
The International Academy of Ceramics was founded in 1952 and is the only organization devoted to the medium of clay at an International level – there are over 550 members from 55 countries. IAC combines ceramists, potters, artists, designers, authors, collectors, gallerists, conservators, restorers’, curators as well as a panel of prestigious institutions. Every two years the Academy holds a major congress and Jane hopes to attend the next one in Taipei in 2018 where she will be welcomed into the organisation. The Arts Office of Waterford City & County Council congratulate Jane on this news and says that it is a direct positive outcome from the bursary support she received from ArtLinks.
