Molly Keane Creative Writing Award 2019

Waterford City & County Council’s Arts Office is pleased to announce that it is currently accepting entries for the Molly Keane Creative Writing Award 2019.

The late writer lived, until her death in 1996, in Ardmore, Co. Waterford. Her first ten novels and four plays were published under the pseudonym M.J. Farrell. In 1981 ‘Good Behaviour’ became a publishing sensation for which she was short listed for the prestigious Booker Prize. Annually since 1998, to celebrate this rich literary life, the Waterford Arts Office, by kind permission of the Keane family has invited entries for a previously unpublished short story to a maximum of 2000 words. There is no entry fee, no age limit and no restriction on the subject matter. A prize of €500 will be awarded to the winner at a special ceremony during the IMMRAMA Literary Festival in Lismore, Co. Waterford in June 2019.

The closing date for receipt of entries is: Friday 5th April 2019 at 12 noon.

The ArtLinks partners in Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford and Wexford are pleased to announce that they are currently accepting applications for the ArtLinks Bursary Awards 2019.

Artists must be a member of ArtLinks to avail of these supports. Membership is free and is open to both Professional and Emerging Artists who are resident within the four partner Local Authorities.
If you are not already a member you can register on www.artlinks.ie/register

Registered members can access further details by logging in and clicking on ‘Application Forms’ on the main menu.

Bursaries are available in the following areas:

  • Emerging Artist Award (for those commencing a career in the arts sector)
  • Professional Development Award (for professional artists)
  • Collaborative Award (for collaborative projects between ArtLinks members)

The closing date for receipt of completed applications is Monday 21th January 2019 at 4pm.

 

Please note:

Membership activation takes a minimum of three business days. To avoid delay please fully complete all fields in the registration form.

Carlow Youth Theatre seeks a panel of experienced Youth Theatre Facilitators with a proven track record and who are passionate about youth drama as well as having the attributes to balance artistic vision, group work skills and an ability to connect and work with adolescents.

Will be responsible for:
Facilitation of Artistic Workshops for County Carlow Youth Theatre
 
Functions:
 
• Facilitate and deliver quality workshops for young people in order for them to gain a variety of skills in all aspects of youth drama practice.
• Identify and develop a series of workshops/programme of work for County Carlow Youth Theatre with the Youth Theatre Coordinator that strives for an artistically ambitious longer-term sustainable vision.
• Ensure at all times a safe environment for young people with full compliance with health and safety policy and best practice in relation to child protection.

Artlinks Visual Arts Workshops

The ArtLinks partners of the Arts Offices of Kilkenny, Waterford and Wexford local authorities are pleased to announce a professional development opportunity for Visual Artists who are ArtLinks members. ‘Art Projects from Concept to Delivery’ is a workshop which will be delivered by Eamonn Maxwell, Curator and Cultural Consultant. Until December 2016, Eamonn was Director of Lismore Castle Arts. Since graduating from Camberwell College of Arts, he has been involved in over 60 exhibitions in the UK, Ireland and Europe, including curating the Irish Pavilion at the Venice Biennale, 2011. As Curator at the University of the Arts, London he founded the Emerging Artists programme and is a passionate advocate of emerging artists. He has worked with many international artists and advised some of the leading collectors of contemporary art.

This workshop will cover all aspects of project delivery from research, to funding, to pitfalls which artists should avoid.
You must be a registered ArtLinks visual artist to apply. It is aimed at those who are considering initiating a project such as an exhibition, commission or competition. This is an interactive session where participants are invited to contribute to the session around their own projects.

 

The workshop will be held in the following locations:

June 7th 2017 – The Arts Office, 5 Dean Street, Kilkenny

June 8th 2017 – The Old Market House Arts Centre, Lower Main Street, Dungarvan, Co. Waterford.

June 13th 2017 – The Arts Department, Council Offices, Carricklawn, Wexford.

 

All sessions start at 10am and the group workshop runs for 90 minutes approximately.

This will be followed by a limited number of 30 minute One to One sessions with artists. Artists who are interested in availing of these sessions can indicate this on the booking form. Places for the One to One sessions will be assigned in advance by lottery and are included in the fee. Successful artists will be notified accordingly. This workshop is subsidised by ArtLinks and the cost to members is a nominal €20 fee.

Booking forms are available from your local Arts Office only.

Imagine Festival seeks Artistic Director

Imagine Arts Festival seeks a dynamic, experienced and highly motivated Festival Director to assume responsibility for the year round management of the Festival including the financial management and the devising and delivery of its artistic programme.

Imagine Arts Festival is an 11-day Arts Festival that runs in October each year in Waterford City and County. Imagine incorporates the John Dwyer Trad Weekend and in partnership with Waterford Council now includes Waterford Writers Weekend.

Over the past 15 years IAF has grown to become a firm fixture on the regional arts calendar with thousands of attendees each year enjoying the celebration of all artforms and including a childrens / youth programme and a history and heritage programme.

Imagine aims to show off the beautiful architecture of the area and has used the tagline ‘Arts in unexpected places’ over a number of years. The festival aims to highlight local talent and give such creativity a wider platform as well as bring in the best of national and international talent

In recent years Imagine has begun commissioning new arts work and we plan to develop this in the coming years. The festival aims to celebrate Waterford both culturally and historically and has developed a reputation as a friendly and open event with festivalgoer’s returning each year and visiting artists spreading positive feedback about their time here.

Imagine Arts Festival is a not-for-profit organisation and works closely with the local arts community to help produce the annual festival. The organisation strives, through the support of our funding partners, programme partners, patrons and sponsors, to bring the highest quality arts events to Waterford and its environs, enriching the community, stimulating debate and nurturing a love of the arts.

Contract and Timetable : The equivalent of 2.5days per week – with the actual working times to be agreed between the appointee and the Imagine Board. Remuneration €17K per annum. Applications to be submitted by March 22nd. Interviews will take place Thurs. 30th March. Fixed term contract, March to Dec. 2017. Following this first year and providing both parties are happy to proceed Imagine will offer a further two-years contract until Dec. 2019.

Waterford Healing Art Trust – Artist-in-Residence Programme 2017

Call for applications for Artist-in-Residence

The Waterford Healing Arts Trust (WHAT) invites artists of all arts disciplines to apply for its 2017 Artist-in-Residence programme. WHAT has been running an Artist in Residence programme since 1994. This year, the focus of this residency will be the artist’s engagement of patients in University Hospital Waterford in participatory / collaborative arts experiences.

The successful artist will receive a studio space for a six month period in the WHAT Centre for Arts and Health, a bursary and support from WHAT staff. The closing date for applications is Thursday, 2nd March at 2pm.

Interested applicants are invited to attend a briefing session in the WHAT Centre for Arts and Health on Tuesday, 14th February 2017 at 2pm.

ARTS ACT GRANT

The 2003 Arts Act permits a local authority to provide financial assistance for the purposes of stimulating public interest in the arts, promoting the knowledge, appreciation and practices of the arts, or improving standards in the arts. The purpose of the Carlow County Councils Arts Organisations and Community Groups Grants Scheme is to assist local Arts Organisations and Voluntary Groups that would benefit from this support or to develop a particular project.

ARTS ORGANISATIONS AND COMMUNITY GROUPS GRANTS SCHEME 2016 APPLICATION

Carlow County Council will consider applications from Arts Organisations and Community Groups working in Carlow or who are from Carlow to enable them to pursue their practice and to develop within their chosen discipline, including research and development, project realisation or project completion.
