Artlinks Supported Actor acting with the RSC

There is Waterford interest in the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) at present as Jenny Fennessy from Ballysaggart, Lismore is acting in two of their plays, CYMBELINE and KING LEAR. Both shows will be screened live to cinemas internationally, including the SGC, Dungarvan.

In CYMBELINE, Jenny plays the gentlewoman. In KING LEAR she plays the messenger and servant and is understudying Lear’s daughter Goneril and the Fool. Greg Doran is Artistic Director of the RSC and is directing KING LEAR. Sir Antony Sher is playing KING LEAR and the show has had rave reviews. Both shows will be performed in Stratford upon Avon until October 15th when they move to the Barbican in London until December 23rd 2016.

Waterford City & County Council Arts Officer, Margaret Organ remarked ‘ We are pleased to have supported Jenny over the years with her education in the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. She was successful in getting Arts Office and Artlinks support to assist with her studies and she is a former winner of the O’ Regan Arts Bursary also. This investment in one of our hardest working actors is something which we are delighted to be associated with.’

Cymbeline is broadcast live by SGC Dungarvan on Wednesday 28th September at 7pm and King Lear is broadcast live from Stratford upon Avon on Wednesday 12th October at 7pm.

Bursary Award Recipients 2016

The Arts Offices of Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford and Wexford Local Authorities are pleased to announce the awarding of their annual bursary support to artists of over €50,000.

Artlinks is an initiative of the Arts Offices in these partner counties which is supported by the Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon to facilitate professional development opportunities for artists in their communities and across all artistic disciplines.

Moving Forward

Development of the Waterford Arts Strategy is moving forward
– Do you want to shape its direction?

Following on from public meetings held in January and February in Waterford City and Dungarvan, the Arts Office, Waterford City & County Council is progressing the development of the Arts Strategy by inviting participants to a World Café Style – Arts Strategy Focus Meeting to be held at the Coastguard Cultural Centre, Love Lane, Tramore on Thursday 24th March 2016. Members of the public, artists, representatives of arts organizations and groups, community and voluntary groups, educators, businesses and all interested are invited to attend.

The aim of the meeting will be for people to ‘workshop’ some of the shared area of interest and issues that were raised by participants at the initial public meetings. Participants will work together in small groups, following a World Café style meeting, to discuss a set of focused areas of commonality that arose and that will be explored as future objectives and actions of the Arts Strategy.

This meeting will be held at the Coastguard Cultural Centre, Love Lane, Tramore on Thursday 24th March 2016. Registration and Refreshments 6.45pm

Meeting Starts 7.00pm (Duration approx. 2 hours)

Booking is essential – (In order to allow the maximum range and diversity of participation the meeting will be restricted to one representative per organization or group).
